Langston

“Mmmmmm.” Cynthia Clark closed her eyes as she enjoyed the first bite of the strawberry shortcake. “This is still warm, too. Wow. Which bakery baked this delicious treat?”

“The bakeries were booked. A special friend baked this cake for you.”

Cynthia’s brows rose. “A special friend?”

“Yes.”

“A special girlfriend?”

“Mom, you know I’m not involved with anyone right now.”

“But this friend is special and a woman, yes?”

“Yes.”

Cynthia scoffed, took another bite, and closed her eyes on a hum. She swallowed indulgently, savoring the delicious cake. “I can’t believe you didn’t bring her over here so I could meet her.”

Langston chuckled. “I thought you wanted a cake, not to meet my friend.”

“Of course, I want to meet her. She baked the cake!” Cynthia put her fork down. “I’ll not have another bite until you promise to go get her.”

Langston’s eyes widened. “Are you serious?”

Cynthia twisted her lips. “What do you think?”

“Mom...”

“Don’t mom me!”

“I don’t want you to get your hopes up about my special friend.”

“I won’t. Just go get her! I want more cake, and you’re holding me up.”

Laughter cruised from his gut. “What if she’s busy?”

“Call her right now and see. Put the phone on speaker so I can make sure you’re not giving her any warnings or codes to say something different.”

“I would never do that.”

“Mm-hmm.”

Langston hesitated. And Cynthia planted her hands on her hips. Chuckling, he dialed Lisa, who answered on the second ring.

“Miss me already?” she chirped.

A deep laugh shuffled from his gut. “I do. But that’s not why I’m calling.”

“Oh. What’s up?”

He glanced at his mother, who shooed him with her hands to go on. “Are you busy?”

“I, uh...just got out of the shower.”

“So you are busy. Okay. It’s no problem. That’s all I wanted to know.” Langston started to hang up when Lisa responded.

“I could be dressed and ready for you in a few minutes if you want me.”

The sensuality of her response made Langston’s dick hard and embarrassed him simultaneously. He glanced at his mom, whose brows were now high on her face.

Pressing his lips tightly, he turned his back and cleared his throat, a naughty response on his tongue that he swallowed quickly. “My, um...mother wants to meet the person who baked this cake. Are you okay with meeting her in person? It won’t be long.”

“Your mom!” she shrieked.

“Yes.”

“Oh, my God! I’d love to meet her!”

Her excitement surprised Langston, and when he glanced back at Cynthia, she was clapping silently and shaking her hips. Laughter bellowed from Langston.

“I’ll be ready in fifteen minutes!”

“Okay. I’ll be there in twenty to pick you up.”
